Finger size isn't fixed. Fingers swell slightly in heat and humidity and shrink in the cold, so a winter measurement might run smaller than a summer one. Fingers are also typically smallest in the morning and largest by evening.
Your dominant hand tends to be slightly larger than the other, so always measure the finger the ring will actually be worn on. Weight changes, pregnancy, and exercise can also shift finger size over time, worth keeping in mind if you measured a while ago.
Wider bands generally need to be sized up slightly compared to thin bands, since more metal touches the finger at once.
